How Tough Are You?

There is uncertainty in the economy; is the government bailout helping your business?
When the chips are down, how will you respond?

When things get tougher do you respond with greater focus, better intensity or do you become more fearful, uncertain and get sucked into the mentality that things are going to get much worse?

In my opinion, yes, things will likely get worse before they get better.  The banks agreed to pull over $1 TRILLION dollars out of the consumer credit market in 2009. When you couple that along with current unemployment rates, unstable real estate prices and business failures increasing daily, this is a recipe for massive struggle for many.  Perhaps you already are feeling the pain.

The good news? You could not have a better time for opportunity to grow your net worth! Yes, it would be much easier if we could turn the clock back to 2004-05 to the good ole days, but that was too easy.

Most people around you, will fold under a little pressure, now add even more pressure, especially if the spending plan does not make an immediate impact. Most will be so riddled with fear they will not be able to make any good decisions on how to grow their business or move forward.

Most will start deciding to add less value to clients, starting to cut more costs, have less teleseminars, webinars, less bonuses…cutting marketing and advertising…thereby perpetuating the very problem they wanted to avoid.

As your competitors go under, market share may shrink, but not disappear. That means there may quite possibly be more business for you when you increase your mental toughness to do what ever it takes to get ahead, (legally and ethically). I just spoke to one of the top players in the merchant account cash advance lending business and he said business was booming. I thought naturally it was because of his business that there is a great demand.

He said, that was a part of it but a bigger part was that 50% of his competition is going under because they were so aggressive with cash advances and the rates that they charged their customers that they put their customers out of business, therefore the cash advances were not paid back, causing them to go out of business!!

You will more than likely have a similar opportunity if you increase your mental toughness daily.

Here are two major areas to increase your mental toughness daily:

Ask better questions at the start of the day:

What am I most excited about today?

What am I grateful for today?

What will help improve my business for my clients most today?

How can I add more value to my clients today?

What are 2-3 ways for me to increase profits in my business today?

Avoid the pattern of overwhelm and confusion and get organized!!! World class business people are organized and mow through an amazing amount of work daily. They refuse to get interrupted by email or phone calls all day long!

They schedule chunks of time to be productive! It is one thing to say you know it, but if you are not doing it, what is the point? You must take action. More than likely we can all improve in this area!

Another point, can anyone interrupt you during your work day any time? Do you have an open door policy for your staff?

That is the worse way in my opinion. I would recommend a SCHEDULED OPEN DOOR POLICY, where your staff must sign up for a “got a minute” to interrupt you. You are the one that must protect and guard your time to be productive. Do not let, people, emails, instant messages rob you of your opportunity!

Avoid your friends who mainly focus on what is not working, and negative generalizations about everyone losing money….this is a disease that is out of most people’s awareness and you must avoid it as much as possible like the plague.

Nothing wrong with a comment about it, but then switch to the possibilities on how do you prosper during these times. Where will the 3 million people who are unemployed look for work? Will they need your opportunity? How do you do a joint venture with a company where those people may go to look for work? Can you do a video on Monster or other job related web sites about your affiliate opportunity? Maybe not. But the key is to start thinking outside the box and be one that will develop your future while others are struggling.

Once you take care of yourself first, then you can contribute and help others. Attempting to worry about everyone else first, while you are falling apart does you or no one any good!
